About

Tarzan's Tree Service provides a respectful approach to tree care.

My approach to tree care is based upon understanding and honoring the relationships between humans, trees and the rest of nature.

I have loved and explored the wonders of nature since I was a child. Growing up on the Olympic Peninsula gave me endless hours of direct contact with the wild world and fostered a special appreciation with the elders of the plant world who we call trees.

From a very young age I have been climbing trees and forming a special relationship with these creatures whom I literally trusted with my life as they held me in their limbs, and later supported me and my family with their generous gifts of wood for shelter and fire, and ultimately their financial support through tree care. I owe my wellbeing and livelihood to trees.

Trees are special beings that can be easily overlooked due to their still and quiet presence. They are highly intelligent in their own way as they patiently strategize how to cope with the selective forces of nature in endless adaptation.

After working with trees professionally for over half my life, I have learned that they are powerfully self reliant and require little care from humans. In most cases, the less we interfere the better. At most, they often only require a little gentle care after a storm or some other dramatic event in order for them to continue their slow and steady adaptation.

Most of the work I do is responding to human to tree conflicts where I spend half my time educating people on how little is needed to help their trees thrive in most cases. In fact, much of the work I do is helping trees recover from human impact and as I assist in designing mutually beneficial relationships between land owners and their trees.

I work with trees from both the scientific approach to modern arboriculture, and a personally intuitive approach based upon my experience and connection with trees. If you would like help caring for your trees from a rich perspective that blends your needs with the needs of your trees and the earth, please give me a call.
